The Federal Aviation Administration is looking into the fatality of a skydiving instructor after he got detached from his client during a jump in Music City, TN.

Authorities report trainer Justin Fuller "appears to have fallen from the sky without a safety chute" during the jump on the weekend.

Fuller, 35, appeared to have separated from his client and a dual harness, which connects the pair during a jump and includes the parachute.

A law enforcement aircraft located the instructor's remains in a wooded area hours later. The Nashville Fire Department utilized several ladders to reach the 46-year old client who lived through the fall after being trapped on a tree branch for hours with the backup chute.

Officials said several additional jumps, which occurred near a local airport, were carried out without incident prior to the deadly incident. Aircraft from which they jumped also landed safely.

It is unclear how Mr Fuller, an experienced skydiver, became separated from the safety equipment.

A individual who assisted fire crews in the operation informed a media outlet the client who officials saved said "he was a first-time jumper, and it was going to be his last".

Mr Fuller had recently written about his passion for teaching others how to parachute.

"Teaching people to skydive has always been in my view the most rewarding job at the drop zone," Mr Fuller said in an social media update in the summer.

"Watching them learn the skills and begin maneuvering their selves is always a heartwarming experience. Occasionally though, it can become quite chaotic up there when you let someone go for their initial attempt."

During that period he posted photos of the wreckage a skydiving plane he was on noting the aircraft's motor had failed after take off. Every individual aboard survived.
