NFL Recap: Denver Narrowly Beat Struggling Jets in Defensive Affair
In a low-scoring contest on Sunday, the Broncos managed to secure a close victory over the winless New York Jets. Signal-caller Bo Nix connected on a first-quarter scoring strike and specialist Wil Lutz provided the game-winning decisive three-pointer to seal the ugly win.
Dominant Display Seals Contest
Even with registering nine sacks against Jets QB Justin Fields, the Broncos were behind 11-10 following conceding a safety in the second half. Interestingly, the Jets could only produce a mere 82 total net yards during the contest.
The Denver quarterback, who went 19 of 30 attempts for 174 yards, led a critical 12-play, 65-yard drive that ended with Lutz's short field goal with just over five minutes left.
Record Struggles for Jets Attack
In spite of their dismal offensive display, the Jets maintained the ball with a chance to score a potential victory. However Fields was tackled on fourth-and-eight from the Denver 44 after head coach Aaron Glenn chose to attempt the conversion instead of sending out specialist Nick Folk for a difficult field-goal attempt.
Fields struggled throughout, connecting on just 9 of 17 passes for 45 yards. New York ended up with negative ten passing yards, the lowest in any game since 1998.
"The aerial attack was completely absent," Glenn stated following the game.
